Cool Guide to NYC…The Cool Hunting X Gap Pop Up Store

Pop-up Stores have been a popular trend over the last few years, especially around the holiday season.

America’s pioneering iconic retail brand Gap recently partnered up with Cool Hunting website to create a pop up store to celebrate the creativity of New York City, featuring locally sourced goods.

The unique gift shop which opened last Friday, on 5th Avenue, was curated by the staff at Cool Hunting and stocks the work of New York based companies known for offering innovative products or goods with a high level of craftsmanship. The staff hand-picked each item using the same principles—innovative design, artisan craftsmanship, social and environmental consciousness—that guide Cool Hunting’s editorial. Within the space you’ll find everything from bicycles to pickles.

The shop interior was designed by Kenyan (Earnest Sewn, The Smile, House of Waris) who chose the theme of a cozy winter retreat, which feature decorative painting by Evolving Image and After the Barn’s wood reclaimed from barns upstate. RCRD LBL put together a soundtrack of New York bands and Matt Van Ekeren designed a graphic identity.

The store also includes a series of Cool Hunting collaborations, such as limited-edition Mast Brothers chocolate and an Outlier cycling cap, along with a mini-installation of their digital content.

Cool Factor
The shop will host a series of evening events featuring many of the designers and produces of the goods on sale in the shop. One event will be a food night with some of the chefs who’s products are for sale in the store on hand for a meet and greet.
